The goal of this campaign is to seek government funding and support to allow Baw Baw Shire to deliver Weebar Road Roundabout in Fern Tree Ridge Estate in Drouin's newest housing estate.
We are asking the community to speak up and tell MP's why they should invest in getting traffic flowing and progressing new homes and community infrastructure by building Weebar Roundabout.
The intersection at Weebar Road and Main South provides a key link between Drouin’s town centre, train station, Drouin Secondary College and existing homes, as well as future homes and businesses, in the southern part of Drouin.
The roundabout will make the intersection safer, faster and easier for motor vehicle users to travel in an around Drouin and access the Princes HIghway (M1). Once built it will trigger the development of valuable community infrastruture including a new primary school and public open spaces.
Constructing this roundabout is a condition required by Drouin's Precinct Structure Plan (PSP) adopted in 2014. There are many reasons progress on the roundbout is at standstill. A lot has changed since the PSP was endorsed. Legislatiive requirements have been updated, an unprecedented amount of new resident chose Drouin as their new home, and inflation and construction costs have escalated enormously. These issues have created some big hurdles for the responible developer to construct the roundabout.
As a more timely solution, Baw Baw Shire Council are willing and able to deliver the roundabout instead of the developer if funding is made available by the Commonwealth and/or State Government.
